The HYBRIT Project, a collaboration between steelmaker SSAB, mining company LKAB and energy company Vattenfall uses hydrogen instead of coal meaning the only by product should be water instead of carbon dioxide.

Situated in Lulea, on Sweden's northern coast, the plant is funded by the European Union and the Swedish government. Sweden has stated it intends to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2045. Watch a video tour here.
